I am lucky. I am married to a gardener who loves to build me places to sit, and ponds for my dog to lazily lay and cool his black body happily in the heat of the day. Being a Scotchman by heritage gave him a natural build for labor with his broad shoulders and strong hands.
This job has let me meet many other Scottish people called to him by the lure of the company name, Scottish Gardener, and many more ask what is it that makes a garden in Calgary Scottish. He always reply's we are cheep and hard working, and I role my eyes. At least you know he is honest. But I don't like sharing my backyard builder for a penny. I exaggerate. To me a Scottish garden is hardy like the man who builds it. It is strong to withstand the harsh climate, and planted with intent of beauty and for ease of care. And of course it gives you a relaxing place to sit and enjoy the sun.
